Q1.What do I need to begin driving lessons?
A1. All you need is a valid provisional drivers licence
Q2. At what age can I begin driving lessons?
A2. 17 years of age.
Q3. Can I apply for a provisional licence before I am 17?
A3. You can apply for your provisional licence up to three months before your 17th birthday.
Q4. Can I begin driving lessons before I pass the driving theory test?
A4. Yes
Q5. What are the stages of getting my full drivers licence?
A5. The test is in 2 parts firstly there is a theory driving test then your practical driving test
Q6. What does the driving theory test consist of?
A6. It consists of 2 parts. The first is a multiply choice exam and the second is a hazard perception test
Q7. Do I need to pass both parts of the driving theory test
A7. Yes
Q8. How many questions are in the multiply choice part of the test and what is the pass mark
A8. There are 50 questions of which you need to get 43 correct
Q9. What is the hazard perception part of the test
A9. There will be a series of 14 video clips which feature every day road scenes. In each clip there'll be at least one developing hazard, but one of the clips will feature two developing hazards.
To achieve a high score you'll need to respond to the developing hazard during the early part of its development. The maximum you can score on each hazard is five decressing all the time you don’t respond to the hazard ahead.
Q10.What is the pass mark for the hazard perception part of the theory test?A10. The pass mark for the hazard perception part of the theory test is 44 out of 75.
Q11. When will I know when I’ve passed the theory test?
A11. As soon as you have completed the test you will be given your results. If sucessful you will be issued with a theory pass certificate.
Q12. How long is the theory pass certificate valid
A12 2 years from when you sucessfuly passed your theory test.
Q13. How many lessons will it take to pass my driving test
A13. Very difficult to answer. Everybody is different and the only way to find out is by booking some lessons
Q14. What happens on the driving test
A14 Your driving test will start with an eyesight check and some vehicle safety questions. You will then start your practical driving test which will include some specific manoeuvres.
The driving part of your test will last about 40 minutes. Throughout the test your examiner will be looking for an overall safe standard of driving, including when you are carrying out the set exercises.
Q15 How am i marked on my driving test?
A15 You can make up to 15 minor driving faults and still pass the test However, if you commit one serious or dangerous fault you will fail the test. Also if you consitantly make the same minor mistake this may result in failure as well.
Q16 Someone told me I have to change a tyre on my test is this true?
A16 No but there is a series of questions that will be asked regarding general maintenance of the car, This is called the ‘Show me tell me’ part of the exam.
Q17, When will I know when I’ve passed the exam?
A17 As soon as you finish the test you will be given your results.
Q18 What is the Pass Plus scheme
A18 Pass Plus is a training course specifically aimed at newly qualified drivers. Pass Plus will build upon your existing skills and knowledge, it will teach you how to anticipate, plan for and deal with all kinds of hazards, and can help you to become more confident on the roads
Q19. What is involved with the Pass Plus scheme
A19 The course will take a minimum of six hours and will involve the following. driving in town ,driving in all weathers ,driving on rural roads ,driving at night ,driving on dual carriageways driving on motorways
Q20. Is there a test at the end of the Pass Plus scheme
A20. No you will be issued a certificate on completion of the scheme

A21 It will improve your driving and awareness but also may help in reduction in your car insurance
